| Why North Cyprus? |
|
North Cyprus has become the new destination for property buyers from Europe who are now moving away from other traditional Mediterranean holiday home destinations. With it's unspoiled coastline and villages, over three hundred days of sunshine, miles of sandy beaches, spectacular mountain views and peaceful lifestyle, North Cyprus offers an excellent variety of houses, villas, apartments, holiday homes and rental properties in the perfect setting. North Cyprus has long been the place for people to holiday and retire. Recently North Cyprus has become a hot news item with hopes of reunification with the South and the possible sharp increase in property prices that would follow North Cyprus properties reflecting the values currently seen in the South. Historically North Cyprus was the favoured location for home buyers due to the beautiful mountain and sea views and the more temperate climate. With the advent of Cyprus joining the EEC, access to North Cyprus for Europeans has become much more simple with many more flights now available through Larnaca. The North Cyprus coast has historically been perceived as the most beautiful part of the island with its more temperate climate and pine covered mountains that offer a spectacular backdrop to the fertile coastal plain. The Crusader castles of St Hilarion, Buffavento,Kyrenia, Kantara and the Lousignon abbey of Bellapais only further establish this region of the coastline as the place to visit and buy a home in the sunshine. The geography of North Cyprus is characterized by a unique blend of mountains, plains, and beaches. The Kyrenia Mountains range with its magnificent jagged limestone peaks, the highest of which is Mount Icova at 3,357 ft. runs along most of the northern coastline to form a magnificent backdrop. To the east of the island the mountain range falls away as it extends along the narrow peninsula known as Karpas, `The Panhandle'. It is here that the best beaches of Cyprus can be found, long wide empty bays of the purest sand that stretch for miles. Following the political changes seen over the past year, investors have been able to more easily visit Northern Cyprus . The rapid increase in property prices has confirmed that investors are now aware of the exceptional locations that North Cyprus offers while also being aware that house prices in Northern Cyprus are still well below the other comparable areas in the Mediterranean . Investors are already able to choose flights into the South from UK destinations that previously would have meant a long and complicated trip to the North. The ease of access to the North looks likely to further improve as the ongoing removal of the political isolation of North Cyprus and eventual membership of the EU become a reality.
