The climate of Northern Cyprus reflects its location at the eastern end of the Mediterranean Average temperatures through the year of 19 degrees C and 300 dyas of sunshine disguise the seasonal changes that take place.
The typically Mediterranean weather of clearly defined spring, summer and Autumn seasons make for a varied and beautiful climate. Summer runs from May through to September and is typified with long hot days and warm nights when eating out in the evening becomes the norm and the Mediterranean culture of an afternoon siesta and late dining becomes understandable! Temperatures can soar to over 40degrees C in the heat of the day and air conditioning can be a blessing. Spring and Autumn seasons reflect the high number of sunny days that allow for the most wonderful range of plants to be grown but also offer the cooler nights when one has log fires and indoor dining. Northern Cyprus is blessed with the warmest sea temperatures in the Mediterranean averaging 21 degrees C ( 75 degrees F) Winter runs from December through to February/March when Northern Cyprus receives the bulk of its rainfall. Although naturally mild and with many sun filled days, night time temperatures may fall to single digits C, the lack of any frost on the coastal plain ensures the safety of this huge citrus growing area and limits any snow or ice to the tops of the mountain range.
